Whether you love being in the fighting chair, on the towel covered bow with magazine in hand, at the helm guiding the way, or would rather strap on your BC and flip over the side into the depths, it’s all possible just off the shore of Cayman Brac.

While there are protected areas sprinkled about the island, there’s plenty of deep sea and shore fishing to be had around the Brac. The diving and snorkeling is simply world-renowned and something you won’t want to miss. Hop on a dive boat and spend the day at sea or charter your own boat and fish until you catch your dinner—or just one you don’t have to lie about.

Cayman Brac Diving – Awesome for any level of diver!

Cayman Brac offers some of the best diving in the Caribbean. Along with its Sister Island of Little Cayman, it has been ranked in the top for wall diving and critters. Cayman Brac reefs and walls are just a few minutes boat ride from the resorts and Little Cayman is a must see every week. So hop on board with Reef Divers and enjoy the sights!
The Cayman Islands protect their reefs through an extensive mooring system and marine parks. By using mooring buoys, the underwater environment is protected from dragging anchors and indiscriminate placement. The lines on the mooring buoys are great ways to get to the reef and provide an easy way to perform safety stops. Our reefs remain prisitine for guests visiting the islands.

Reef Divers on Cayman Brac – A Full Service Operation for all your Diving Needs

our dock

Reef Divers’ main operation is at the west end of the island just a short hike down from Brac Caribbean and Carib Sands. Reef Divers provides pickup service to the condos and will send a vehicle to transport you to the departure dock. You won’t have to lift more than your wetsuit!
Reef Divers is an award winning operation. Their boats are specifically designed with the diver in mind. The 42′ or 46′ boats offer plenty of space in comfortable surroundings. A large camera table provides safe dry access for the photographers. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the boat trip. Getting on and off couldn’t be easier. A giant stride off the back deck will get you into the warm Caribbean waters.

Valet Style Diving makes Diving a Snap

Professional instructors offer you a valet diving experience by setting up your gear on the boat each day. Reef Divers boats are comfortable and well equipped with the latest diving equipment, and meet the latest safety standards/specifications. Reef Divers will take you to spectacular dive sites on both Cayman Brac and Little Cayman – beyond the normal sites.
The dive shop provides all of the necessary accessories, as well the latest equipment to rent. They have a Nitrox membrane system to give you hassle free enriched air.

Reef Divers Cayman Brac has had straight A awards from F+W Scuba Diving for the past 4 years. Come and see for yourself.

The Dive Staff Represents Many Dive Agencies

Reef Divers team of PADI, NAUI, NASDS, BSAC, and SSI certified professionals are committed to providing the best, easiest, and safest diving experience in the Cayman Islands and the Caribbean. Each is certified as a PADI and NAUI Instructor. A staff of 9 includes certified instructors/dive masters/boat operators, mechanics, equipment repair specialists and retail sales staff.

A Variety of Dive Sites for You to Enjoy!

With well over 70 sites between Cayman Brac and Little Cayman there is no end of diving experiences. The sites run the gammit from large wrecks like the 330 foot Captain Keith Tibbetts, to stunning walls on Bloody Bay through unique animal encounters like Tarpon Reef. There is even the Lost City of Atlantis on Cayman Brac! This site designed by a local artist Foots will eventually have more than one-hundred pieces of original sculpture cast from molds using a blend of materials, crushed rock, sand and cement.
Most dives are done at mooring balls to protect our reefs. You will never have to worry about repeating a dive site (unless you absolutely want to!). Reef Divers offers a 2 tank morning dive and a 1 tank afternoon dive each day. The morning dives start with a wall dive (maximum depth 110′) followed by a reef dive after a surface interval. The afternoon dive will have you visiting another one of Brac’s critter packed reefs. Dive computers are allowed and encouraged (but each member of the buddy team must have one).

Snorkel, dive, explore, bird watch, fish, cave, climb

While dozing in a hammock or floating in the pool is highly respected here, you’ll find that additional activities beckon.

Fear not – you won’t encounter anyone with a clipboard and whistle. Even adventures are laid back on the Brac.

You can snorkel and dive our vibrant reefs and walls… meander nature trails… spot Cayman Brac parrots, herons and whistling ducks… bonefish or troll for wahoo and marlin… bicycle along traffic-free roads… explore caves and climb limestone walls… photograph native orchids and brown
iguanas.

Whatever you want to do, Kathy in our office will make all of the arrangements for you.

Diving and snorkeling

Experts rank the Cayman Islands as one of the world’s best dive destinations.

You can dive vertical walls that plunge to 6,000 feet, healthy reefs and coral mounds, and even a 330’ Russian warship. Spur and groove formations give you a three-dimensional experience as you glide through white, sandy-bottomed grooves between towering banks of coral.

More than 150 types of coral make up our reefs, populated by over 500 species of marine life. You’ll see parrot fish, queen triggerfish, foureye butterflyfish, spotted drums, Nassau groupers, eels, yellowhead jawfish, scorpionfish, flying gurnards and more. Spotted eagle rays soar by, stingrays pirouette on sandy bottoms, and turtles silently patrol their underwater world.

Beginner divers are spoiled, advanced divers wowed

Dive boats regularly make the trip from Cayman Brac to Little Cayman, allowing you to dive two islands while staying on one. You’ll enjoy 100-foot visibility and water temperatures between 78°F to 84°F. Currents are nonexistent or mild, and dive depths range from 15 feet to 110 feet. Nitrox
and rental gear are available.

You can boat dive, shore dive and dive at night. Morning boat dives are two-tank trips. If you don’t know how to dive, you can learn here, in ideal conditions from professional scuba instructors.

Of course, you can snorkel right off the beach at Carib Sands, or at over a dozen sites on the island.

To protect this national treasure, the government has created a model marine park zone system. Spearfishing and collecting are forbidden, and all diving is glove-free.

Walking, hiking, bird watching—and free nature tours

The Brac’s rugged landscape shelters 120 species of indigenous and migratory birds, beneficial bats, brown iguanas, wild orchids and other wildlife and fauna.

Your nature adventure can be as laid back as a stroll along a wetland boardwalk, where you can spot herons, egrets, whistling ducks, stilts and terns.

Or you can explore the island with a guide – for free! A trained Nature Tourism Guide will customize your island adventure to your interests. Options include birding, caving, hiking along nature trails, the Brac Parrot Reserve, ponds and wetlands, the bluff and lighthouse.

Your guide can also give you tours of the Cayman Brac Museum and Heritage House.

Fishing

Wahoo, blue marlin, dorado and yellow fin tuna migrate through Brac waters within a half-mile from shore, feeding on abundant bait fish. Local charter boat captains consider the distinct seasons of these pelagics as they guide you.

Even though Cayman’s bonefish are small—3 to 8 pounds—good bonefishing awaits in the calm water lapping against Carib Sands’ beach. Visiting anglers should be aware that catch-and-release is practiced.

Caves and climbing

It’s an easy climb up wooden stairs or stout ladders to explore caves, where pirates supposedly hid their treasure and generations of Brackers sought shelter from hurricanes. Laid-back caving adventures are well marked on the road.

Four caves are the most visited. Of these, three are located on the south shore, where Carib Sands is located: Rebecca’s Cave, Great Cave and Bat’s Cave. Peter’s Cave is on the north shore near Spot Bay. It’s a more rigorous path with more stairs, but the view of the island and the sea is
worth it.

For ardent adventurers, the Brac’s limestone bluff offers world class rock climbing. Seven distinct climbing areas include bolted routes that are 10s, 11s and 12s with overhangs. Please click the links for detailed information.
Note: there are no climbing shops on the island. You must come with your own ropes and equipment.

We’ll make the arrangements

Remember, whatever you want to do, Kathy in our office will make all of the arrangements for you.

Experts rank the Cayman Islands as one of the world’s best dive destinations.

You can dive more than 46 dive sites on Cayman Brac, including vertical walls that plunge to 6,000 feet, healthy reefs and coral mounds, and a 330’ Russian warship. Spur and groove formations give you a three dimensional experience as you glide through white, sandy-bottomed grooves between towering banks of coral.

More than 150 types of coral make up our reefs, populated by over 500 species of marine life. You’ll see Parrot fish, Queen Triggerfish, Foureye Butterflyfish, Spotted Drums, Nassau groupers, eels, Yellowhead Jawfish, Scorpionfish, Flying Grunards and more. Spotted Eagle Rays soar by, Stingrays pirouette on sandy bottoms, and turtles silently patrol their underwater world.

Dive two islands while staying on one

Dive boats regularly make the trip from Cayman Brac to Little Cayman’s Bloody Bay Wall, allowing you to dive two islands while staying on one. No matter which island you dive, you’ll enjoy up to 150-foot visibility and water temperatures between 78°F to 85°F. Currents are nonexistent or mild, and dive depths range from 15 feet to 110 feet.

You can boat dive, shore dive and dive at night. Morning boat dives are two-tank trips, departing at 8:30 am. Afternoon boats depart at 2 pm, and, when scheduled, night dives depart at 7:30 pm.

Snorkeling and dive instruction

Snorkelers are welcome on the dive boats. Of course, you can snorkel right off the beach at Carib Sands, or at over a dozen sites on the island.

If you don’t know how to dive, you can learn here, in ideal conditions from professional scuba instructors.

To protect this national treasure, the government has created a model marine park zone system. Spearfishing and collecting are forbidden, and all diving is glove-free.

Stroll on, jump in, stroll off “Valet Diving” by Reef Divers

Award-winning Reef Divers provides transportation to its dive shop and dock, less than five minutes away. Bring your “C” card and gear, then they’ll take it from there. With their valet diving service, all you’ll ever carry is your gear and a towel.

Professional dive staff take your equipment to the boat each day and set up your gear. Once moored at the dive site and after the dive briefing, your tank is brought to you on the entry platform. Entries are easy with a giant stride. You can descend on a fixed descent line or on your own.

When your dive is over, a Divemaster greets you at the ladder, takes your tank and weights, then sets a fresh tank up for your next dive. At the end of your diving day, staff removes your gear from the boat, rinses it, and securely stores it.

Modern dive boats are designed for the diver

There are never more than 20 divers on boats that can seat 36. Each features shade and a sunning area, padded camera table, freshwater shower, ice water, fruit, snacks, and restroom facilities.

Safety features include a VHS ship-to-shore radio, oxygen kit, AED kits, first aid equipment and US Coast Guard approved boat safety equipment. Dive staff hang a regulator line and a surface current line for every dive.

International dive staff focuses on your enjoyment and safety

Reef Divers’ team of PADI and SSI certified professionals earn high rankings for their instruction, customer service and reef expertise. Dive masters and boat captains balance providing you with an exhilarating dive experience with concern for your safety and care for the environment.

Pack light and rent the latest equipment; breathe air or Nitrox

You can rent the latest dive equipment from mask and snorkel to dive computers. Regular air fills and Nitrox fills are available.

Bring a group of diving friends

When your dive buddies want to combine reef, wall and wreck diving with spacious accommodations and laid-back living, our dive packages make you a hero. We’ll handle all arrangements for flights, villas, diving, meals, groceries and island transportation.
